Abstract/Notes
The need for a brief public essay on the geology and minerals of the Northern Territory has long been felt by everyone who is interested in the North, its nature and economic resources. However, writing a book of this kind that would satisfy the needs of a wide range of readers in this respect is far from an easy task, especially since so far there has not been a single serious attempt to give such a work. Perhaps the seriousness and responsibility of the topic is the main obstacle to the publication of such a work, which undoubtedly requires a lot of work and a thorough acquaintance with the region. For the author, the above provisions seem completely obvious, therefore, despite many requests from representatives of local cultural and scientific-public organizations, addressing such a broad topic seemed at least risky, especially because, in his deep conviction, the problem could be solved quite satisfactorily only with the indispensable participation of many specialists.
