Abstract/Notes | The town of Přísečnice in the Erzgebirge Mountains, Bohemia, was found sometimes before 1335, perhaps as early as in the 13th century, and disappeared in 1973 due to the construction of a water reservoir. From the end of the 13th century to the mid 19th century, iron ore was mined about 5 km NNW of Přísečnice town. Magnetite was extracted from silicate rocks of deposits Kremsiger, Kreuziger, Engelsburg and Auspanner. Around 1340, silver mines were found W and SW of the town of Přísečnice. The silver mines were operated with interruptions till the 18th century. Silver ore argentite was extracted from veins with Ag, Co, Ni, Bi ores (skutterudite, arsenic, bismuth, arsenopyrite and others). In addition, uraninite was also present. Silver mines were drained by a 5 km long gallery named Haus von Österreich. Documentation on the silver production is available only for short periods in the 16th and 18th centuries for which the silver production was about 4 tons. Mining of iron ore magnetite in Mezilesí, SW of former Přísečnice town, was also significant. This mining took place from the 17th century the latest, to the mid 19th century. Between 1970 and 1982, the magnetite deposit of Přísečnice was mined (SW of the Fischer Mine). |
