Abstract/Notes | The title compound, (C6H10N2)[ZnI4]·2H2O, crystallizes as an organic–inorganic hybrid. The ionic layer consists of isolated ZnI4 tetrahedra. The hydrocarbon layer has two symmetry-independant centrosymmetric p-phenylenediammonium cations that link to the ionic layer via hydrogen bonding. Two water molecules of hydration lie between the anion and the two cations. |
