Abstract/Notes | A simple technique is presented for the derivation of contour maps from geological data. Non-significant discontinuities in the data are eliminated by the assumption of a spatial probability function, which ideally reflects the variation that would occur if extensive sampling were carried out over a small region. At the same time this 'smoothing' of the data produces a grid network of 'most probable' values over the map area, allowing the required isoplethes to be located. |
