Abstract/Notes | The Lac Rouvray anorthosite mass forms a part of the Lac St. Jean massif. Attempts to subdivide the Lac Rouvray mass into mappable types based on mafic mineral content and total rock textures failed. Although distinctive types can be discerned locally, their distribution is heterogeneous within the limits of the mapped area. However, the deformation of the anorthositic rocks by cataclasis and recrystallization provides a range of textures outlining a path of reconstitution from an initial igneous stage to a completely reworked rock bearing no resemblance to its ancestor. Individual preserved textures along this path demonstrate the effects of deformation at a particular place in the anorthosite mass. |
