Abstract/Notes | Fossils from the lower part of the Shihtienfeng Formation, Upper Permian of north China, include the type specimen of a new genus and species of pareiasaur and less complete materials identified as Shansisaurus sp. and Pareiasauridae gen. et sp. indet.Based on the distribution of pareiasaurian fossils in the Upper Permian of north China, the upper part of the Shihtienfeng Formation can be correlated with the Daptocephalus Zone, the lower part with the Cistecephalus Zone, and the upper part of the Upper Shihezi Formation with the Tapinocephalus Zone of South Africa. |
