Formula:
Pb(Bi,Sb)6S10 (?)
Colour:
Silver-grey, white in reflected light.
Lustre:
Metallic
Hardness:
2½
Member of:
Name:
Named after its discovery locality, the Ustarasay deposit, Uzbekistan.
"Ustarasite was defined by Sakharova (1955) on the basis of chemical analysis and X-ray powder data. The mineral is compositionally close to synthetic Phase V of Otto & Strunz (1968), which is ∼PbBi4S7 (lillianite–pavonite super-family).
Unit-cell data are needed to validate ustarasite." (Moëlo et al., 2008).
