A greasy, wax-yellow to reddish-brown weakly radioactive mineral, most commonly found in metamorphic rocks and pegmatites, associated with allanite, cerite, tysonite, fluorite, and tornebohmite.
The group members may be part of the Bastnäsite-Vaterite Homologous Series.
